Time for a deeper reflection

Obviously, troubling times in more ways than one. Personally, I am deeply saddened by the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others as well as continued injustices of many that surround this country currently. I do not have the answers or even the humble understanding of what people of color go through on a daily basis but believe it is far past time for a deeper listening and learning. It also causes me to reflect on another injustice regarding people with disabilities. How long have we’ve seen injustice going on there?

What I have found over the past few weeks is that I have a lot to learn not only about racial injustice but about how people with disabilities also face social injustices. As a parent of a child with a disability it is my absolute responsibility to become educated about all forms of injustice. As Martin Luther King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
